Description
Dalian city is divided into two major districts, the North city and the South city, with the latter being the core part. The South city accommodates many important loads with a high requirement for power quality and reliability. However, with the rapid development of the economy in this area, the existing network can no longer secure a reliable power supply. Moreover, the south city is surrounded by sea on three sides, making it impractical to expand the existing transmission corridor.
After thorough study of the network and system analysis, the customer decided to employ C-EPRI’s HVDC Flexible technology for power transmission form the north to the south of Dalian.
Upon completion, the HVDC link will transmit up to 1000WM power to meet the south city’s electrical demand, reduce the need to build additional new power plants in the area, and improve the overall security and reliability of the electrical system. Furthermore, HVDC Flexibles’ fast restoration features will address the security risk of simultaneous failure of the in-feed lines (four in-feed lines: Shuiyan line, Dianyan Line, NanyanJia line and Nanyan Yi line, all erected on one tower) in Dalian south city.
